Cathy Mackenzie and Margaret Saliske have been working together for many years. They have 35 years of restoration and conservation experience between them.
Cathy Mackenzie was educated in cabinet making at the North Bennet Street School in Boston and received her collections care training through the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums. She has studied furniture history and construction in France with the American Institute of Conservation.
Margaret Saliske specailizes in Asian and European lacquer and painted objects. She worked for many years in that department at Sotheby’s Restoration. She has demonstrated the care of 18th century Chinese lacquer on Martha Stewart Living. She recently completed conservation of the decorative wall painting at Olana, home of Hudson River School painter, Fredrick Church.
Both Saliske and Mackenzie have extensive experience maintaining and conserving objects in New York State’s Historic Sites as well as the Carnegie Museum of Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. They work on the furniture collection of Anne and Gordon Getty in San Francisco as well as on the collections of other notable clients.
